PPOW: The Woodworth Street Apartments

The renovated firehouse

Two luxurious, multi-level units are available in this positively unique, Port Norfolk apartment building….

Number 1 ($1,550/month)
Bedrooms: 2
Baths: 1.5
Square feet: 1,325

This two-floor residence has thick, hardwood floors and space in all the right places. The L-shaped kitchen, which features a dining nook off the side, has been updated with high-end, stainless-steel appliances and granite counter tops. From there, you can overlook the massive living room. Cooled by a high-hanging ceiling fan and dimmed by richly colored, wooden blinds, this room combines ideal space with intricate beauty.

Access the lower level one of two ways: Down the stairs (the more traditional approach) or through a street-side entry that looks more like a secret passageway than a front door. Here you’ll find two bedrooms, each with its own ceiling fan, and a full bathroom. Laundry hookups are installed next to the bathroom and, in the back, another door leads to the shared patio.

Number 10 ($2,200/month)
Bedrooms: 3
Baths: 2.5
Square feet: 2,000

As beautiful and spacious as any apartment you’ll find in the area, Number 10 is a four-floor, sprawling townhome with luxury finishes everywhere you look. On the first floor, a welcoming living area with high ceilings leads into a galley kitchen and wine cellar. Downstairs sits a finished basement with plenty of closet space. Easily used as either a bedroom or a spacious TV room, the basement is carpeted and has its own entrance from the parking lot.

There’s a laundry closet on level two, as well as this bedroom. A squared space with lots of natural light and dual closets, this room also features a stunning bathroom with an elevated tub and a separate, standing shower. Walk up another flight-and-a-half and you’ll find the third bedroom. Perched atop the house, this roomy, well-lit loft has stained-pine flooring, beamed ceilings, a full bathroom, and a closet that reaches back along the stairwell.

The two-bedroom is available for a September move. Number 10 is available October 1st, but is viewable now. Contact a Patriot leasing agent right away to schedule an appointment, as they’re likely to be snatched up soon.

PPOW: Two-bed condo with brand-new finishes (Quincy)

Perk up your ears, I’ve got a tip for you: If you’re looking for a luxury apartment – but don’t want to break the bank – ask your broker about private listings.

Today’s real estate market has encouraged home- and condo-owners to rent out their properties until things pick up, rather than take on the daunting process of selling them.  As a result, great deals like this one have become available to the savviest apartment-seekers.

This two-bed, two-bath condo in Quincy has the exact same layout as a nearby luxury apartment, but has been touched-up with the care of a private homeowner.  Stainless appliances, granite counters, hardwood floors, and a full-size washer/dryer have all been added to the standard model you’d find in an apartment community.  But don’t worry, you still get to enjoy all the pleasures of community living: fitness center, pool, club room, etc.

Now here’s the best part…it’s cheaper.  Similar two-beds start close to $1,800/month.  After some generous discounts, you might be able to find a smaller one for $1,650.  The above apartment, with no amenity withheld, is available for $1,550.

Need parking?  It includes two free spots.  Transportation? It’s right next to a bus stop that gets you to Quincy Center in five minutes.  A view?  Check out the panoramic view of the expansive Blue Hills Reservation.

If the high prices of luxury living have discouraged you, don’t despair.  Just do a little more digging and you’ll be greatly rewarded.
